To me, art is a hunger for life itself. It helps me to grow, learn and evolve. When creating a piece, I enter a spiritual realm. Here I can connect with my inner soul, which is reflected in each and every piece. My series "Color is Music; Music is Color" conveys the emotion coming from the canvas of my mind. Once an idea is brought to the canvas, it begins to take on a life of its own. It's almost as if the painting itself is guiding me through the creative process.

Although my father passed away when I was a young boy, I learned a great deal from him. He taught me that creating fine art is its own best teacher. It wasn't until later in my life that I realized what an impact he had on me. Today, I often feel his creative force working through me.

Listening to jazz greats like Miles Davis or the Braxton Brothers of the Bay Area also has a powerful influence on me. As I listen to the music, colorful images flow through my mind, and I begin to envision my next piece of art. My goal is to "play" music on canvas for others to see. The Jazz Man, a spirit-like figure playing a saxophone, appears in each painting in this series. This figure is inspired by my love for the sound of the sax, my admiration for the jazz greats and my appreciation of the free-flowing style of Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali. To me, the Jazz Man represents the soul of jazz itself.

I believe my style will continue to evolve, as tomorrow will bring another day, a fresh canvas, and new ideas. In the meantime, let the ideas flow, because if I can think it, I can create it.
