Pharoahs-Daughter_art

Although Solomon had many wives, his first recorded marriage was with an Egyptian (African) princess who was the daughter of Pharaoh. This Pharaoh who thus became Solomons father-in-law was a Tanite King. For a wedding present, he conquered the city-state of Gezer and presented it to his daughter (I Kings 9:16). The marriage of Solomon to Pharaohs Daughter followed the usual method of sealing an alliance in the international diplomacy of earlier times. But his marriage was more than a political matter, for according to I Kings 11:1, Solomon truly loved her.
